Munga Elocho Obituary, ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Munga Elocho, a 22-year-old Rochester resident originally from the Republic of Congo, has died after his body was discovered in a wooded area near the Genesee River Trail over the weekend.
Rochester police officers discovered Elocho’s body Sunday in a wooded area south of the Bausch Street Bridge, near Vincent Street and the Genesee River Trail. Authorities later identified him through fingerprint records, confirming his identity as the investigation into his death continued.
Police said preliminary evidence suggests Elocho may have been killed at another location before his body was left in the area where officers found him. Authorities have not released the manner or specific cause of death, and investigators have not disclosed additional details about the circumstances surrounding his death.
The Rochester Police Department’s Major Crimes Homicide Unit is leading the investigation. Detectives are continuing to gather evidence, review available information and speak with potential witnesses as they work to establish what happened and determine the circumstances surrounding Elocho’s death.
As of Tuesday, police said no suspects were in custody. Authorities have also not released information about a possible motive, and the investigation remains active as detectives continue examining the available evidence.
