Matthew Wing was born on January 23, 2004, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Daniel and Sara Wing. Raised alongside his older sister, Katie, and younger brother, Andy, Matthew developed an early passion for both academics and athletics, as well as a love for the outdoors, frequently spending his free time hiking and fishing.
He attended Sweet Springs High School in Missouri, where he established himself as a natural leader and a versatile multi-sport athlete. He competed in cross country, basketball, and football, but truly found his stride in track and field. A standout sprinter, Matthew lettered all four years, served as the track team captain, and set the school record in the 100-meter dash. He qualified for the state championships in the 100 and 200 meters in 2022, and the 400 meters in 2023, while also earning district runner-up honors.
