Sandra Marwick And Luke Mulford Obituary, Mercer County Accident Update — Sandra Marwick, a teacher with the Allegheny-Clarion Valley School District, and Luke Mulford of Butler were killed Wednesday morning in a three-vehicle crash in Worth Township, Mercer County, Pennsylvania, according to authorities. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
The fatal collision occurred on Sandy Lake Grove City Road in Worth Township. Investigators said Aric Abrams of Clark Mills was traveling northbound when his vehicle crossed into the southbound lane and struck Marwick’s vehicle.
Following the initial collision, authorities said Abrams lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a guide rail. Marwick also lost control of her vehicle after the impact, causing it to enter the northbound lane, where it collided head-on with a third vehicle driven by Mulford.
Marwick and Mulford suffered fatal injuries in the crash and were pronounced dead at the scene. Abrams was not injured. The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation.
According to a criminal complaint, Abrams allegedly told investigators that he had used cocaine two nights before the crash and consumed alcohol the night before the fatal collision. Authorities also said Abrams allegedly refused to submit to a blood test, telling officers that drugs would be found in his system.
Abrams is facing multiple charges in connection with the deaths, including two counts of homicide by vehicle while under the influence and two counts of homicide by vehicle. The charges stem from the deaths of Marwick and Mulford, while the investigation into the crash continues.
Marwick’s death has prompted an outpouring of grief from the Allegheny-Clarion Valley School District, where she worked as a teacher. The district said in a social media statement that she was tragically involved in a car accident while on her way to work and expressed condolences to her family, students and colleagues.
School officials described Marwick as a dedicated educator who made a meaningful difference in the lives of students and colleagues. The district called her death an unimaginable loss for her family, the WSTU program and everyone who had the opportunity to know and work with her, while asking the community to keep Marwick and her family in their thoughts and prayers. The Mercer County crash remains under investigation as the criminal case against Abrams moves forward.
