Dallas police officers were called to the area of West Virginia Drive at approximately 8:30 p.m. Tuesday following reports of an auto-pedestrian crash. When officers arrived, they found a person who had been struck by a vehicle.

As investigators began examining the circumstances surrounding the collision, they located the woman who had been driving the vehicle. Police identified the driver as Edwards, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

Edwards was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of her injuries. Despite efforts to save her, she later died, according to authorities. Police have not released additional information about her life, career, or family.

The pedestrian struck by Edwards’ vehicle was also injured in the incident. Authorities said the pedestrian is expected to recover, though further details about that person’s condition have not been released.
