Sze Wenn Tiang Obituary: Houghton County, Michigan – Two Motorcyclists Killed in Fatal U.S. 41 Crash

Sze Wenn Tiang Obituary, HOUGHTON COUNTY, Mich. — Raymond Alton Miller, 65, and Kimberly Ann Wooldridge, 36, both of Rock Hill, South Carolina, died after their motorcycles were involved in a fatal collision on U.S. 41 in Osceola Township on August 5. Miller was originally from Marenisco, Michigan.

The crash occurred at approximately 12:30 p.m. near Golf Course Road. According to the Michigan State Police investigation, Tiang, 45, of Houghton, was driving an SUV southbound on U.S. 41 with two children inside when she allegedly failed to see a pickup truck stopped ahead.

Investigators said the pickup was reportedly waiting to turn onto Golf Club Road. Tiang allegedly moved into the northbound lane in an attempt to avoid the stopped vehicle, where her SUV then collided with the two motorcycles traveling in the opposite direction.

Michigan State Police responded to the scene and conducted the initial investigation. Tiang and the two children in her SUV were evaluated by emergency medical personnel at the scene and were released.

Following a review of evidence submitted by Michigan State Police, the Houghton County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office authorized three charges against Tiang. The charges include two counts of moving violation causing death, each classified as a one-year misdemeanor, and one count of operating with no license or an expired license, a 90-day misdemeanor.

Tiang was arraigned Tuesday, August 18, in 97th District Court in connection with the crash. Houghton County Prosecuting Attorney Dan Helmer said his office reviewed the investigative materials and consulted with Michigan State Police investigators and members of the families of Miller and Wooldridge before authorizing the charges.

Prosecutor Dan Helmer emphasized that the charges are allegations and that Tiang remains presumed innocent unless the allegations are proven beyond a reasonable doubt in court. The fatal crash investigation remains ongoing as the criminal case proceeds through the court system, with additional information expected as the investigation and legal proceedings continue.

The deaths of Raymond Alton Miller and Kimberly Ann Wooldridge have left their families and those who knew them mourning their loss. As the legal process moves forward, condolences remain with the families and loved ones of Miller and Wooldridge during this difficult time.
