Dean James George Obituary, PRAIRIE VIEW, Ill. — Dean James George, 56, of Prairie View, Illinois, has died after a courageous battle with cancer. He is remembered by his family and friends as a devoted husband, father, relative and friend whose presence brought warmth, laughter and joy to those around him.
Dean lived his life devoted to his family and friends and was known as someone who would do anything for anyone. Those who knew him remembered the energy he brought into a room and the lasting impression he made on the people around him.
Dean was married to Anna, nee Sabado, for 26 years and was a loving father to James, Ryan and Isabella. He was the cherished son of Anna, nee Parashou, and the late James K. “Jimmy” George. He was also the brother of Vicki (Chris) Naveja, Alex (Chris Stelter) George and Karen (Eric) Stiverson.
Beyond his immediate family, Dean was a beloved son-in-law to Charmaine Soto and Phillip Sabado and a brother-in-law to Phil, Greg (Jenifer) and Tony (Lynn) Sabado. He was also a devoted uncle, cousin, nephew and friend to many who will remember him with affection.
Throughout his battle with cancer, Dean was described as a true warrior who faced his circumstances with courage. He had an irrepressible passion for laughter and bringing happiness to others. Among the memories his loved ones will carry are his enjoyment of quoting movie lines and his distinctive style on the golf course, where he could often be seen wearing signature knickerbockers and proudly clashing golf shirts.
His family and friends have expressed how deeply he will be missed, remembering him as a person who brought joy and meaning into the lives of those fortunate enough to know and love him. A family tribute described Dean as now being in God’s care, where there is no pain or sorrow, while honoring him as a good and faithful servant.
Family and friends will gather for visitation on Friday, August 28, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Ascension of Our Lord Greek Orthodox Church, 1207 Riverwoods Road, Lincolnshire, Illinois 60069. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens, 2501 E. Euclid Avenue, Arlington Heights, Illinois 60004. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Chicago Greek Funerals, with Dean S. Argiris, care of Kolssak Funeral Home. Dean James George’s memory will remain with his family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
