Jonathan O. Benton Obituary, BLOUNT COUNTY, Ala. — Jonathan O. Benton, 37, of Cleveland, Alabama, was killed in a two-vehicle head-on collision late Sunday night, August 23, 2026, in Blount County, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

The fatal crash occurred at approximately 11:25 p.m. on Alabama 79 near mile marker 21, about four miles south of Adville. According to authorities, Benton was driving a 2007 Toyota Corolla when his vehicle collided head-on with a 2020 Ford F-250 traveling in the area.

The Ford F-250 was driven by Troy W. Venable, 52, of Hayden, ALEA reported. Benton was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision and sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not released information indicating that Venable suffered serious injuries in the crash. No additional injuries have been confirmed in connection with the collision.

The circumstances leading to the head-on crash remain under investigation. Officials have not disclosed what caused the two vehicles to collide or whether any additional factors contributed to the fatal incident.

Troopers with the ALEA Highway Patrol Division are continuing to investigate the crash. Authorities have not announced any citations or charges related to the collision at this time.
