Lakytia King Obituary, DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Lakytia King, a longtime DeKalb County E-911 Communications Officer III, passed away on August 22, 2026, leaving colleagues, public safety personnel, and members of the community mourning the loss of a dedicated dispatcher.
King joined the DeKalb County E-911 team in 2008 and spent 18 years serving as a Police and Fire Dispatcher. Throughout her career, she became a valued member of the E-911 team and played an important role in supporting emergency communications across DeKalb County.
As a dedicated South radio dispatcher, King was recognized for serving with professionalism, compassion, and commitment. Her work placed her in a vital position within the county’s emergency response system, where she helped support police and fire operations and contributed to the work of surrounding agencies.
Beyond her professional responsibilities, King was remembered by her colleagues for her infectious laughter and comedic spirit. She was also described as compassionate and caring toward the people around her, qualities that helped make her a cherished member of the E-911 family.
